“Fearsomengine’s involvement in the BladeRunner success story was considerable. Their innovative ideas and solutions were integral to ensuring the BladeRunner project maximised its full potential. BladeRunner continues to be an international success and we now have plans to bring to market further innovative tools that will also add value to the user. Fearsomengine’s services will be retained and we look forward to working with them on a long term basis.”
Carl Gardner, Sales Director, Gyproc Tools
BladeRunner is designed to cut plasterboard safely and quickly. The traditional technique for this task involves an exposed blade and requires cuts to be made on each side of the board in turn. What Gyproc Tools wanted was a hidden blade and the ability to cut both sides of the board at the same time.
Fearsomengine were commissioned to undertake BladeRunner’s design and oversee its project management. The process relied heavily on producing prototypes to test design principles and produce an ergonomically sound product. We subsequently managed the setup of manufacture in the Far East.
Within months of its launch in Summer 2008, BladeRunner achieved global sales in excess of 100,000 units and is now available throughout the UK, Europe, the US, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico through major retailers.
