"We are hugely appreciative of Fearsomengine for integrating so well with the Pufferfish team and helping to deliver two new products within an extremely tight deadline, and to very demanding specifications. Working as a single dynamic unit was crucial to our success. Over 3 million people worldwide have now seen the PufferSphere XL range on the Viva La Vida tour alone and sales of the systems are accelerating constantly across the globe. We continue to work closely and look forward to addressing an array of new challenges in the future."
Will Cavendish, CTO, Pufferfish Displays Ltd
When international band Coldplay wanted something unique for the stage set of their upcoming Viva la Vida World Tour, they looked North of the border and found a young Edinburgh based company called Pufferfish, who specialise in 360° spherical display systems. Their flagship product is the PufferSphere: an inflated sphere of PVC, 2 to 4 metres in diameter, containing a Pufferfish SuperUmami lens that projects onto all surfaces of the sphere.
Fearsomengine worked in collaboration with Pufferfish to create the PufferSphere XL range, based on their existing technology, but redesigned to meet the rigorous demands that touring would place on the display. We focused on mechanical, usability and maintenance aspects of the design and integrated several new enhancements into the XL units.
As part of the complete package Fearsomengine managed the manufacture of the units and played a critical role during the on-site build and testing at tour rehearsals.
